Eternal Life means Death is Eternally Destroyed.

We have given several definitions and understanding to the meaning of eternal life. Popular among them is the thought of going to heaven.

But eternal life is more than that. Much practically eternal life means death is completely destroyed forever. There is now no place any more in eternity where death would even be remembered. It has ceased to exist and mortality is swallowed up by immortality through the resurrection of Christ.

The only way death has power to reign and hope of regaining its power is when life is temporary. But thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord who defeated death through death and became our hope of glory. The Bible says,

"Not with the blood of  goats and calves, but with His own blood He  entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having  obtained eternal redemption." (Hebrews 9:12)

When you are redeemed by God through the blood you are redeemed forever from dying again. You are born again once,  not twice or more.  Christianity doesn't guarantee probationary life as many want us to believe. God promised eternal life over death and this is what He says,

"My sheep hear My voice, and I KNOW THEM, and they follow Me. And I give  them ETERNAL LIFE, and they shall NEVER PERISH;  neither shall anyone snatch them out of My  hand. My Father, who has given  them to Me,  is greater than all; and NO ONE IS ABLE TO SNATCH  THEM out of My Father’s hand." (John 10:27-29)

Nothing is more refreshing to the soul than this promise from our faithful Saviour. He is the anchor that keeps the soul - very steadfast and sure while the bellows roll. And we are fastened to Him, the Rock, that cannot be moved. Grounded firm and deep in His blood.

Where is death again? Eternally destroyed.

MEDITATION:

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears  My word and believes in Him who sent Me has  everlasting life, and shall not come into  judgment, but has passed from death into life." (John 5:24).
