QUANSIMAH RELOADED

EPISODE 1

Abeiku Okai

The road was in bad shape with several erosion potholes and too much nose-choking dust. It's a long time since Quansimah last visited the village. She had left the village in anger seven years back. And it was an issue over a man she was dating but her mother wasn't in support of.

After all these years she had change her mind and gathered courage to reunite with her family. She didn't know how her mother's attitude would be. And that of her elderly sister, Naana, who had been the centre of the whole controversy. As for her  father, Nenyi Otoo, nobody was more important to him than her. She had been daddy's girl from childhood.

She left the village with nothing and was returning as an able woman driving her own car. She had no child but lived happily with her husband, who was a great business man in the city of Accra. Her dream all these years was to make it financially and return to take her family out of poverty, despite every friction they had had before.

Driving through the bad village road she was able to locate her family house. Her sister, Naana, was selling rice in front of the house, on a small table. A baby wrapped at her back and a more older one standing near and disturbing her as she dished out food to customers.

Quansimah got down from her car and offered Naana a cute smile. Naana returned the smile out of courtesy, not being aware the stranger was her own sister. She was actually less focus on who the personality of the stranger was, for her son was disturbing her too much.

"Naana", Quansimah called.

"Is that Quansimah?" Naana answered quickly and in great shock. She was so familiar with her sister's voice that nothing could conceal it. But it never crossed her mind that her sister could be coming home.

Both sisters jumped into each others arms and wept sorely. They had been great sisters from childhood. And they were all determined to become great ladies in the future. But as fate or nature would have it their past had been mired with bad experiences that turned them against each other and almost separated them for life.
