Every one of us is controlled by the desires of the heart. You may acknowledge it or not, but the desires in your heart are the natural fuel that gets the wheels of your life moving. 

This means you cannot change your life until you change the desires of your heart. That is why God is more interested in your heart than your lifestyle. For without a change in heart everything outward is hypocrisy, or at best, fragile and temporary. 

Therefore, the Bible says, 

"Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life." (Prov. 4:23 NLT).

To guard your heart, the Bible prescribes: 

"Delight thyself also in the LORD; and HE SHALL GIVE THEE THE DESIRES OF THINE HEART." (Psalm 37:4).

You definitely don't want wrong desires to control you. You don't want evil desire and carnal desire you mislead your life. You want divine desires and moral uprightness to fill your heart, particularly the love of God. But this is the simple way to have the right desire: DELIGHT YOURSELF IN THE LORD.

Continue to find your delight, joy, passion, and priority in God. Let God be your love object and incline your ears to his word continually - reading the Bible, good books, listening to the right sermons and music, and keeping the right Christian company. As you do so, God will be supplying your heart with the right desires, not allowing your heart to produce its own carnal desires. 

May God grant you the right desire of your heart and cause you to love what He loves.
